What We Do

Education, empowerment, and stronger futures.

Jane Matovu Foundation programmes

The Jane Matovu Foundation takes a holistic approach to helping children and families build more secure futures. Education remains at the centre of our work: we support vulnerable children with school fees, scholastic materials, and pathways into formal, vocational, and technical training. Yet we recognise that educational opportunity alone is not enough if the conditions surrounding a child remain fragile.

Our Mindset Change programmes therefore encourage purpose, discipline, resilience, personal responsibility, and practical life skills among children, youth, parents, and guardians. Through Family Empowerment, we help selected households develop sustainable sources of income through agriculture, livestock, small enterprise, and other livelihood activities, enabling families to contribute progressively to their children’s education. Our Advocacy work brings attention to the barriers faced by rural children and families, including poverty, school dropout, gender inequality, unemployment, and climate-related pressures.

Together, these programmes are designed to create opportunity without dependency: educating children, strengthening households, and helping communities build the confidence and capacity to shape their own future.
